Victim Advocacy Unit

Under the supervision of CSPD personnel, Volunteer Victim Advocates provide crime victims with immediate crisis intervention, follow-up support, and information on victim rights and community resources in accordance with the Colorado Victim Rights Act.

We are now accepting applications for volunteer victim advocates! Applicants must be able to attend and successfully complete the CSPD Volunteer Victim Advocate Academy. The Spring 2025 Volunteer Victim Advocate Academy includes approximately 40 hours of training, with over 20 hours of additional on-the-job training following the academy.

The academy will be held April 1st – May 6th, 2025 with training sessions taking place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 – approximately 10:00 pm. Participants will be trained in victim advocacy skills including crisis intervention, community resources, and Victim Advocacy Unit (VAU) operations.
