What is CAPS?
The CAPS Program is an exciting community-wide effort that engages volunteers (18 & up) in a public safety partnership with the City’s Police and Fire Departments and the Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management. While volunteers have been an integral part of daily operations throughout the police department for over forty years, CAPS catapulted the program to unsurpassed levels of success and unparalleled accomplishments.
Inspired by our citizens’ desire to get involved, a vision was realized for an expanded volunteer program. The blueprint created laid the foundation for this innovative, effective and sustainable program. Officially launched in 2011, CAPS realized early on that the key to success was strategically matching a person’s strengths, skills and interests with the perfect volunteer opportunity.
Since its implementation, CAPS has achieved national award-winning recognition.
